Snowdonia Mountains & Coast
Welcome to the adventure capital of the UK
This is Snowdonia. Adventure capital of the UK. We’ve mountains. Really big ones like Tryfan. Legend has it you’ll gain the ‘freedom of Tryfan’ if you jump between the pair of rocks at the summit. We’ve an Electric Mountain too. Deep inside Elidir, Europe’s biggest man-made cavern houses some of the world's most powerful hydro-generators. We’ve stalactites and stalagmites at Beddgelert’s ancient copper mine. And there’s more to see above ground. The Lleyn Peninsula has just celebrated it’s 50th anniversary as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Relentless south-westerlies make small trees and hedges lean in one direction. But the sailing’s always good. And that’s not the only activity. There’s rock climbing, scrambling and hill walking. And that’s just before lunch. And lunch here is as adventurous, or as relaxed as you like. A packed lunch at the top of Snowdon. Or head for a more sheltered venue. Like Pete’s Eats. This Llanberis institution has been serving chip butties and pints of hot tea to climbers since 1978.
