Borderlands

The North Wales Borderlands lie between Chester to the East and Snowdonia to the West. Which makes them rather handy for a break. It’s a short trip from England but a big change in atmosphere, culture and countryside. Think of it as crossing over to the other side.

Castles, cathedrals, canoeing, country estates. Lead mines, water worlds and Telford’s feats of engineering. Plus lots of enticing ‘come and play me’ golf courses. It’s all available here.

The Borderlands has some of the finest parkland courses in Wales, with lush fairways set in rolling countryside. It’s also home to only one of three National Mizuno Fitting Centres at Clays Golf Club. There’s plenty to test low handicappers as well as the more novice golfer. Like the Vale of Llangollen the only inland course in North Wales to hold HSBC Gold status. And the young course at Northop that’s being talked about in the right circles. You can also play in two countries in one round at Llanymynech - it’s so close to the border that three of its holes are actually in England.
