snowdonia mountains & coast

Think of Snowdonia and you’ll probably conjure up images of towering mountains, mythological tales and ancient castles. And it’s all true. Wherever you are in the area, it’s probably fair to say there’s an impressive view. Like the rugged rocky peaks and ancient woodlands of Snowdonia National Park. And the spectacular coastline of the Llŷn Peninsula that has carried the title of “Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty” for over 50 years. The golf courses live up to the surroundings.

isle of anglesey

Unspoilt beaches. Wetlands, farmland, great sea cliffs. Spectacular coastline within an officially designated “Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty”. The Isle of Anglesey is a unique part of North Wales. But as well as prehistoric sites and historic monuments, there’s also plenty of golfing heritage. Some of the earliest golf courses in Wales are to be found here. The Isle of Anglesey’s courses often put you perilously close to the Irish Sea, so conditions can be challenging. Not to mention bracing. But they’re always a pleasure – played out against a stunning backdrop of mountains and sea.

coastal north wales

Coastal North Wales describes the stretch of coastline that runs from the Dee estuary in the East to Bangor in the West. With miles of sandy beaches, cliff top walks and bracing sea air. The mild coastal climate provides perfect conditions for year-round golf. True links courses hug the shore. Some, like Prestatyn, are so close to the sea that you could get your feet wet. Championship links courses like Conwy will test your golfing skills (and your nerves). Expect magnificent coastal views from the likes of Abergele, Maesdu and North Wales (Llandudno). All of our coastal courses are full of character – so they all offer a very different playing experience.

north east wales

The North East Wales lies between Chester to the East and Snowdonia to the West. Which makes them rather handy for a break. It’s a short trip from England but a big change in atmosphere, culture and countryside. There are lots of enticing ‘come and play me’ golf courses here. The Borderlands has some of the finest parkland courses in Wales, with lush fairways set in rolling countryside. There’s plenty to test low handicappers as well as the more novice golfer. Like the Vale of Llangollen – the only inland course in North Wales to hold HSBC Gold status. You can play in two countries in one round at Llanymynech – it’s so close to the border that three of its holes are actually in England.
