You’d be forgiven for thinking this was a links course, even though it lies on a plateau 800 foot above sea level. It’s a course that almost defies traditional description. Holywell is full of classic links challenges in a unique heathland and moorland setting, with limestone quarries, water hazards and grass bunkers. On a clear day you’ll see the majesty of Snowdonia in the distance, but don’t let it distract you too much: the diversity and trickiness of the holes means it’s a testing round for even low handicappers. Holywell offers an invigorating game in the fresh air, with a few sheep as spectators.
